Meet Angela, the passionate and inspirational owner of Essential Body Personal Training. We spoke to Angela to find out what led her to who she is today and her holistic approach to health. She also tells us why Ultra Lite was the right program for her business.

Why did you get into the health industry?
I have always had an interest in fitness. So, I decided to complete my Certificate IV in the field. It came as a shock, but whilst studying for my qualifications I was diagnosed with cancer. During this time, I shifted my fitness focus to be about strengthening my immune system.  In turn, I learned the importance nutrition played in obtaining optimal health. I wasn’t concerned about my weight, my main agenda was to continue to be healthy and this meant living a balanced lifestyle. I did this through a balanced nutrition plan and regular exercise. During this time, those around me, both family, and friends, were asking me for health and fitness guidance. I was constantly approached for advice – and loved giving it.

How did you get to your position today?
After moving through my cancer journey, I finally tired of working for someone else. I had also completed my Certs by 2008. With all this in mind, I decided it was time to follow my passion.  In March 2009 I opened Essential Body Personal Training, Gladstone’s first private personal training studio.

What is one of your most memorable or rewarding experiences working with the Ultra Lite program?
There is no single moment that I can pinpoint. Every client, whether they lose 60kgs or 5kgs, are taking control of their health. This is the main objective. So, I’m consistently proud.   Since using the Ultra Lite program, I have watched many clients transform their lives. One of my clients, age 36, lost 64kgs over a 12 month period. She did this by simply committing to the Ultra Lite Health and Weight Management plan and to exercise 3 times a week. Her journey continues today, and I am incredibly proud to have witnessed her cease prescription medication, conceive her first child and maintain her health several years later.

Why did you choose the Ultra Lite program for your business?
I researched immensely before deciding on Ultra Lite. As a personal trainer, I am not a dietician or a nutritionist, thus I knew I needed a sound and supportive nutrition program. One that had been trialled and tested. Ultra Lite ticked all the boxes. It is results-driven. No meal replacement shakes. No fads. It has an educational, easy to follow meal plan. A plan that assists clients towards making healthier choices. Clients can return to it once completed, if they need. It’s also important that clients can see where they were going wrong. The plan helps teach the importance of balanced regular meals and portion size. Plus, it shows you don’t have to go hungry or miss out on amazing meals to reach your health goals which is a huge bonus.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone who is looking to change his or her health what would it be?
I always discuss with my clients, the focus should be on improving their health and lifestyle, make changes that will make them feel better about themselves and revitalise their body. Once we start loving ourselves and accept the body we are blessed with the weight loss will follow and all areas of life improve. I have always liked the following quote:

“There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you’re interested in doing something, you do it only when it is convenient. When you’re committed to something you accept no excuses, only results."

If you are truly serious about improving your lifestyle be committed, being interested is only going to let you down. Be prepared to make changes it won’t happen in a few weeks, ask yourself how long have you persevered with your condition and own it. It may take some time before you reach your goals. Stay on track, trust the process and most of all don’t give up.

And the most important, check the credentials of the person you choose to support you on your health and fitness journey. Find out more about Essential Body Personal Training or find an Ultra Lite practitioner near you.
